Phillip G. Kopf, PhD, is Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmacology at Midwestern University's College of Graduate Studies in Downers Grove, Illinois. His research has focused on the cardiovascular and adrenal consequences of environmental chemical exposures. Early work established that chronic dioxin exposure induces hypertension and cardiac hypertrophy through CYP1A1-mediated oxidative stress, and postdoctoral studies identified novel angiotensin-dependent mechanisms coupling adrenal steroidogenesis to adrenal vascular tone. His current research investigates how endocrine-disrupting chemicals, particularly bisphenol A, perturb aldosterone secretion and contribute to the development and progression of hyperaldosteronism and its associated cardiovascular pathology. His work has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, and he has been an active member of The Endocrine Society since 2011.
