Lucas Lefers, a 3rd Year Graduate student pursuing his PhD in Biochemistry, a part of Dr. Kedryn Baskin's Lab at the Ohio State University. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor's in Science in Biochemistry and Biology. In my undergraduate career, I worked under Dr. James Ntambi, where I helped contribute to the publishing of two papers in the Journal of Lipid Research and BBA-Molecular and Cell Biology of Lipids. His current research focuses on OSU-SP3, a novel cardiomyokine that increases skeletal muscle mitochondria function. Future directions of his research are focused on uncovering the mechanisms of secretion and the mechanisms of increased mitochondrial function.
