Assistant Professor
OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER
Columbus, OH, United States
My name is Ramiah D. Jacks, PhD and I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at The Ohio State University. I received my Ph.D. in Immunology from Loyola University Chicago. I completed my postdoctoral research training in the Intuitional Research and Academic Career Development Award (IRACDA) Program at the University of Michigan with Carey Lumeng. My research seeks to identify the mechanisms promoting the establishment and function of adipose tissue T cells (ATTs) in lean adipose tissue and how ATTs contribute to obesity-associated adipose tissue inflammation and subsequent insulin resistance and systemic immune dysfunction. My current position in the Department of Surgery allows me access to adipose tissue from people with obesity undergoing surgical and medical weight loss interventions (as well as lean individuals) to study adipose tissue immune cell changes and mechanistic pathways for the resolution of inflammation.
