Tatiana L. Fonseca, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine (Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism) at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). She earned her PhD in Anatomy from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of São Paulo in 2009 and completed her postdoctoral training in Endocrinology at the University of Miami in 2014. She subsequently held research positions at Rush University and the University of Chicago before joining UTMB. Dr. Fonseca’s research focuses on the role of thyroid hormone signaling in epigenetic programming, particularly DNA methylation and chromatin organization in the neonatal liver, with an emphasis on how early-life thyroid hormone dynamics influence hepatic development and metabolic function.
