Dr. Ada Weinstock is an Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago Department of Medicine. She is an immunologist with a long-standing interest in obesity and its complications, with training from top Israeli universities in various fields, including immunology, molecular biology and stem cells. Her research vision is to find targetable immune pathways that will promote resolution of inflammation in various obesity-related comorbidities simultaneously. The short-term goals of her research program are to understand how weight loss in obesity causes such pronounced benefits to inflammation, and why weight regain (also known as weight cycling) heightens inflammation. Her group recently found in obese mice that weight cycling accelerates the progression of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and is working to find the underlying mechanisms.
