SUN-528 - Diabetic Ketoacidosis in a Patient with Type 3c Diabetes Secondary to Near-Total Pancreatectomy: A Case Report and Review of Clinical Implications
Type 3c diabetes mellitus (pancreatogenic diabetes) is an underrecognized form of diabetes resulting from exocrine pancreatic disease or surgical resection. We present a case of a 32-year-old male with a history of congenital hyperinsulinemia secondary to neisidioblastosis, status post near-total pancreatectomy, who developed diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). This case highlights the unique pathophysiology, diagnostic challenges, and management considerations in type 3c diabetes, emphasizing the need for heightened clinical awareness and tailored therapeutic strategies.
