This symposium will cover new therapies, including those under investigation, for reduction of LDL- C, triglycerides, and lipoprotein (a). These include, a CETP inhibitor which reduces LDL-C, currently in Phase 3 trials ; an inhibitor of apolipoprotein C III, approved by the FDA for treatment of severe hypertriglyceridemia; and several investigational medications that reduce Lp(a) and are being evaluated for possible effect on cardiovascular disease in people with high Lp (a).
