Thyroid hormones are central regulators of energy homeostasis and metabolic adaptation. Beyond their classical role in controlling basal metabolic rate, thyroid hormones orchestrate a wide range of cellular processes, including mitochondrial function, substrate utilization, thermogenesis, and tissue-specific metabolic remodeling.
This session will highlight recent advances in our understanding of how thyroid hormone signaling integrates metabolic pathways across tissues, from skeletal muscle and adipose tissue to liver and tumor microenvironments. Particular emphasis will be placed on emerging mechanisms linking thyroid hormone action to cellular energetics, metabolic flexibility, and disease states characterized by metabolic dysfunction.
By bringing together basic, translational, and clinical perspectives, this session aims to provide a comprehensive view of the dynamic role of thyroid hormones in regulating energy balance and metabolic health.
