Dr. Marcelo Correia is a clinical assistant professor at the Division of Endocrinology at the University of Iowa and a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. He graduated from the State University of Rio de Janeiro Medical School in Brazil and holds a PhD degree in Translational Biomedicine from the University of Iowa. His major clinical interest is bariatric medicine practiced at the UI Weight Management Clinic and VA MOVE program. He is also an investigator at the Diabetes Research Center where he studies the role of ER-stress in the setting of skeletal muscle-specific DRP1 knock down. He also conducts clinical trials on obesity, diabetes and dyslipidemia at the Preventive Intervention Center at UI, with a particular focus on MASLD.
