Filipe Moura, MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) at Yale School of Medicine and Director of Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac Imaging at VA Connecticut Healthcare System. His clinical and research work focuses on cardiac PET and CT imaging, and preventive cardiology, with a particular emphasis on cardiometabolic disease at the intersection of diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease. His research integrates advanced cardiovascular imaging biomarkers with outcomes and mechanistic studies to improve risk stratification and therapeutic assessment in cardiometabolic disease. Dr. Moura leads collaborative imaging and registry-based research initiatives across the Yale and VA systems and has contributed to multiple investigations in cardiometabolic medicine. He is an associate editor at the American Journal of Preventive Cardiology and recipient of the 2026 Rising Star Award in Diabetes, Cardiorenal & Metabolic Medicine from the Metabolic Institute of America, and a past recipient of the American College of Cardiology Young Investigator Award.
