Belen C. Avelar is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) in Baltimore, Maryland. She earned her BS in Kinesiology at the Univeristy of Maryland, College Park in 2021 and is now a student in the Molecular Medicine PhD Program at UMSOM. She currently studies the regulation of parathyroid hormone-mediated lipolysis and bone anabolism.
