Dr. Mita Varghese is an Assistant Research Scentist at the University of Michigan, Pediatrics-Endocrinology division. Her research focuses on the impact of sex and sex hormones on inflammation in pre-clinical models of obesity. Other research interests include investigations of complications of sex differences in adipose and immune cell lipid storage on immune system responses. Currently, her research is focused on translating mouse model studies in pediatric pre-diabetic and diabetic populations with emphasis on profiling circulating monocyte populations as a metabolic risk determinant.
