Inés Pineda Torra is an Honorary Professor of Cardiometabolic Medicine at University College London and a Distinguished Principal Investigator at the Andalusian Centre for Molecular Biology and Regenerative Medicine (CABIMER) in Seville, Spain. She leads the Metabolism, Immunology and Cardiovascular Risk group and the Department of Integrative Pathophysiology and Therapies. Her research focuses on how lipid metabolism in immune cells drives cardiovascular, metabolic, and autoimmune diseases, with particular relevance to endocrine regulation of these processes.
Her recent work addresses women’s health, investigating the molecular basis of increased cardiovascular risk after menopause and uncovering sex-specific mechanisms linking hormonal changes to cardiometabolic dysfunction. With an international career spanning leading institutions across Europe and the United States, including Utrecht University, Institut Pasteur in Lille, New York University, and University College London, she brings a global and collaborative perspective to translational research in cardiometabolic disease.
Beyond her scientific contributions, she is actively engaged in mentoring and in promoting equality and diversity in science. Altogether, her work bridges endocrinology, immunology, and metabolism, advancing a more precise understanding of cardiovascular risk and supporting improved prevention strategies in women’s health.
