Federico Salas-Lucia is interested in the intersection between Endocrinology and Neurobiology. The Salas-Lucia Lab at the University of Chicago studies how thyroid hormones mediate their actions in the human brain. We use human iPSC-derived models, transgenic mice, multi-omics, in vivo fluorescence microscopy, and other approaches to help understand how abnormal maternal/perinatal thyroid hormone action contribute to the neurobiology of complex neurological and neurodegenerative disorder
