Dr. Weinstein received his B.S. in Life Sciences from MIT and M.D. from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. After an internal medicine residency at Montefiore/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, he did his training in Endocrinology and Metabolism at NIDDK, NIH and has a been a Senior Investigator (and more recently Chief) of the Metabolic Diseases Branch in NIDDK. He is presently a Scientist Emeritus. Dr. Weinstein's research has focused on the genetic defects in GNAS which underlie diseases such as pseudohypoparathyroidism and McCune-Albright syndrome. More recently his research has focused on the role of G protein signaling on regulation of energy homeostasis and glucose metabolism. He is a Member of the American Association for Clinical Research and the Association of American Physicians and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
