Anne M. Dorrance, Ph.D., is a cerebrovascular pharmacologist working in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Michigan State University. Her research focuses on how hypertension, obesity, aging, and endocrine signaling drive cerebrovascular dysfunction and vascular cognitive impairment. She has made key contributions to understanding mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) signaling in the brain’s microcirculation, demonstrating its role in vascular remodeling, TRPV4‑dependent endothelial dysfunction, and hypertension‑related cognitive decline. Her work spans mechanistic studies of ion channel regulation, immune–vascular interactions, and sex differences in cerebrovascular physiology, using innovative models of chronic cerebral hypoperfusion, small vessel disease, and Alzheimer’s‑related pathology. Supported by sustained NIH and AHA funding, Dr. Dorrance’s research has identified promising therapeutic strategies—including MR antagonists—to protect cerebral vessels and cognitive function.
