Associate Professor
GROUPE HOSPITAL PITIE-SALPETRIERE
Paris, France
Etienne Lefevre, MD, PhD, is a Neurosurgeon and Associate Professor at Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital, Sorbonne University, Paris, France. He specializes in pituitary and skull base surgery, with a particular focus on invasive pituitary adenomas and cavernous sinus involvement. His clinical expertise includes endoscopic endonasal surgery, complex skull base approaches, and neurovascular procedures.
Dr. Lefevre’s translational research explores the molecular and microvascular mechanisms underlying pituitary tumor invasion, including vascular permeability, endothelial junction alterations, and tumor microenvironment remodeling. He has developed orthotopic experimental models to investigate mechanisms of invasion and therapeutic targets, with work integrating histopathology, immunohistochemistry, and transcriptomic analyses.
He is actively involved in multidisciplinary management of pituitary disorders and collaborates closely with endocrinologists, neuroradiologists, and basic scientists. Dr. Lefevre also participates in national and international research initiatives focused on improving surgical strategies and long-term outcomes in pituitary disease.
His work aims to bridge surgical practice and molecular insight to refine therapeutic approaches for invasive pituitary tumors.
