Dr. Angela M. Cheung is Professor of Medicine, KY and Betty Ho Chair in Integrative Medicine at University of Toronto (UofT) and Senior Physician Scientist at University Health Network (UHN). She is currently holding a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Musculoskeletal and Postmenopausal Health and has held the 2024 American Bone and Mineral Society (ASBMR) Gideon Rodan Mentorship Award, 2023 European Calcified Tissue Society (ECTS) Research Excellence Award, Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Senior Investigator award, the Canadian Society of Internal Medicine (CSIM) David Sackett Senior Investigator award, the Ontario Premier Research Excellence Award, the UofT Eaton Scholar Award for Clinical Research and the Eudenie Stuart Mentorship Award, and the UHN/Sinai Health System Michael Hutcheon Mentorship Award and Clinical Teaching Award. She is the current President of the International Society of Clinical Densitometry (ISCD), chair of the Canadian Osteogenesis Imperfecta Society Medical Advisory Council, chair of the ASBMR Task Force for Atypical Femoral Fractures, member of the Council of Scientific Advisors of the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF), and a past Chair of the Scientific Advisory Council of Osteoporosis Canada. She is one of three lead principal investigators for OsNET, a CIHR funded national research network for bone health. Her research interests are in metabolic bone disease, atypical femoral fractures and rare bone diseases. She obtained her M.D. degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1988, and her PhD degree from Harvard University in 1997. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and has been in clinical practice for >35 years.
