Dr. Farah Akhtar Hasan is an endocrinologist and leader whose career spans clinical care, medical education, program development, and quality improvement. She currently serves as Site Medical Director of the University of Chicago Center for Advanced Care in Orland Park, Illinois, where she also practices as an endocrinologist with the University of Chicago Care Network and holds the role of Clinical Associate at the University of Chicago.
Dr. Hasan earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Toronto in 1997, followed by residency training in internal medicine and a fellowship in endocrinology at the University of Toronto. She is certified in internal medicine and endocrinology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and holds American Board of Internal Medicine certification in endocrinology.
Throughout her career, Dr. Hasan has held major leadership roles in diabetes and endocrine care. She previously directed the Diabetes Center at the University of Chicago Center for Advanced Care in Orland Park and served for more than a decade at Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Medical Group, where her roles included Medical Director of the Diabetes Education Center, Section Chief of Endocrinology, Site Medical Director, fellowship site director, and chair of multiple diabetes-focused committees. She has also contributed to institutional governance and quality initiatives through committees at the University of Chicago Medicine.
Dr. Hasan has a strong record in teaching and mentorship, including faculty service with the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and research advising at Advocate Christ Medical Center. She has delivered numerous presentations on diabetes management, inpatient hyperglycemia, thyroid disease, and endocrine care, including American Diabetes Association Diabetes Expo keynote and mainstage presentations. Her scholarly work includes journal publications, abstracts, and posters in endocrinology and internal medicine.
