Simone de Leo graduated in Medicine and completed his fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases at the University of Milan in 2018. Between 2015 and 2016, he spent 18 months at Boston University as a research fellow under the supervision of Prof. Lewis Braverman and Prof. Elizabeth Pearce.
Since 2018, he has worked as an endocrinologist at Istituto Auxologico Italiano in Milan under the guidance of Prof. Luca Persani. In 2025, he moved to ASST Santi Paolo Carlo, where he works as an endocrinologist in the Department of Endocrinology directed by Prof. Laura Fugazzola. His research focuses on thyroid cancer. He has published epidemiological, clinical, and molecular studies in this field and has served as an investigator in several clinical trials involving tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) for thyroid cancer, including lenvatinib, vandetanib, cabozantinib, and selpercatinib.
From 2018 to 2022, he was a member of the Executive Committee of the European Thyroid Association. He currently serves as Chair of the Website and Social Media Board of the European Thyroid Association. He is also Editor-in-Chief of Thyroid Research and an Associate Editor of Clinical Thyroidology.
