Dr. Ioachimescu completed her MD and PhD at Carol Davila University in Bucharest, Romania. She trained in endocrinology in Bucharest and subsequently in Cleveland at the Cleveland Clinic. She is currently a professor of medicine (endocrinology) with joint appointment in neurosurgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She directs the pituitary and adrenal disease program in the department of medicine. She has longstanding experience with acromegaly, Cushing’s syndrome, pituitary tumors and adrenal nodules. Dr. Ioachimescu has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and authored several book chapters. She has had editorial experience with Endocrine Reviews, Endocrinology and Metabolism Clinics of North America, Pituitary and Journal of Endocrine Society. She co-edited the book “Pituitary disorders throughout the life cycle.” Dr. Ioachimescu's current research is addressing predictive models for treatment outcomes in patients with pituitary tumors, long-term effects of pituitary hormone alterations on physical and mental health, impact of demographic characteristics on healthcare delivery and research, and novel therapies for acromegaly and Cushing’s syndrome.
