John C. Achermann (MB, MD, PhD) is a Professor of Paediatric Endocrinology at UCL Great Ormond Street Hospital Institute of Child Health in London, UK, as well as having a clinical role in Paediatric Endocrinology and Women's Health. His main interests are in human adrenal and reproductive biology, with a focus on human genetics, development, and integrating scientific discovery to improve health care. He trained in Pediatric Endocrinology in London/Cambridge, UK and in Molecular Endocrinology at Northwestern University, Chicago and was a Wellcome Senior Research Fellow from 2007-2023. John has published more than 200 original research studies, reviews and chapters and he has received several research awards, including the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) Young Investigator Award (2002), ESPE Henning Andersen Prize for best abstract (2007, 2023), Clinical Endocrinology Trust Lecturer Medal (Society for Endocrinology, 2016) and ESPE Research Award (2025).
