Prof. Kohjiro Ueki MD. PhD. is currently the Director, Diabetes Research Center, National Institute of Global Health and Medicine, Japan Institute for Health Security. He graduated from the University of Tokyo Medical School in 1987. He worked as a physician and endocrinologist at the University of Tokyo and obtained PhD degree there. In 1997, he joined Joslin Diabetes Center as a postdoctoral fellow and became an instructor in 2001. After returning to Japan, he became Associate Professor at the Department of Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases in 2004, Professor at the Department of Molecular Sciences on Diabetes in 2014, and Professor at the Department of Molecular Diabetology, the University of Tokyo from 2020 to 2026. In the Japan Diabetes Society, he has served as Cahir since 2020.
