Dr Albert Kim is a Staff Specialist in Endocrinology at Westmead Hospital and a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Sydney Medical School, University of Sydney. He completed his PhD at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and UNSW Sydney in 2025, alongside fellowship training that culminated in admission as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2022. He also holds a Master of Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Sydney.
Albert's research focuses on metabolic bone disease, with a particular interest in the rebound phenomenon that follows withdrawal of RANKL inhibition. His translational program spans bench to bedside, combining preclinical models of osteoclast biology with clinical strategies to prevent rebound bone loss after denosumab discontinuation.
His contributions have been recognised through numerous national and international awards, including the 2025 Endocrine Society of Australia Young Investigator Award and the 2025 John Haddad Young Investigator Award from the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research. He serves on the ASBMR Early Stage Investigator Committee and the ANZBMS Clinical Practice Committee, and contributes to the Endocrine Society of Australia Council Communications Subcommittee.
