Jonathan N. Flak, PhD, is an assistant professor of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Pharmacology at Indiana University School of Medicine. His research focuses on how the central nervous system regulates glucose metabolism, energy expenditure, glucose uptake, and glucose mobilization in relation to diabetes and obesity. Before joining IU, Dr. Flak worked in Martin Myers’ lab at the University of Michigan, contributing to research on leptin action and neural circuits involved in metabolic regulation. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Biopsychology and Cognitive Sciences from the University of Michigan in 2004 and a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Cincinnati in 2011.
